A great day for a visit to Painshill Gardens, an 18th century theme park near Cobham, Surrey created between 1738 and 1773 by Charles Hamilton. Originally a piece of country landscape, it was transformed into a park by the additions of buildings purchased outside of England and a lake. More details can be found on one of the many websites including https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painshill_Park.
A map of the park
We met in the garden for coffee. There were 3 groups, 2 of walkers and 1 being driven around in the tour vehicle.
We passed the great Cedar tree and onto the vineyard overlooking the lake. The tower can be seen on the skyline.
Into the Amphitheatre and its gothic temple with a great outlook.
Onto the man made Grotto.
Back via the lake and a look across to the old church.
A great day and we only saw around the lake.
